Quebec wants its .QC !

22 avril 2008 17:08

After .CAT for the Catalan community, it is Quebec’s turn to claim its identity on the Internet by creating its own extension : .QC.

Quebec is no longer fulfilled with .QC.CA that it has been given. Because Quebec is a nation recognized by both Canadian parliament and Government, it demands an extension that reflects its community and culture. Even though the Canadian .CA just celebrated reaching the symbolic 1 Million mark, the PointQuebec group was formed to obtain the .QC from the ICANN.

Quebec party deputy Daniel Trup has held a petition on the Web to endorse his proposition, that is well supported by other organizations in Quebec. It emphasizes on the previous Catalan extension .CAT to show the legitimacy of this request before the ICANN.

The situation of Quebec in Canada is very similar to the one of Catalonia in Spain because of their independent status and their official language.

Our team will make sure to bring you the latest news on this progress as well as the development of new extensions to come such as .PARIS (which is actively supported by our Domaine.fr sponsor), breton .BZH, German .BERLIN etc...
